Western is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Hamilton Heights is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Brynley Erb was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jocelyn Jeffers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Western hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tipton struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Heights got the win against Maconaquah on Saturday by a conclusive 13-2. The Huskies have beaten the Braves the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Braves has come to flipping the script.
Heather Crays made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Rhoton, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Isabel Morrow, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Western's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Hamilton Heights, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Western has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Hamilton Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Western took their victory against Hamilton Heights in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
