The Norman Thomas Tigers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Rustin on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the by a score of 63-61. Norman Thomas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rustin apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Norman Thomas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaden Chazulle. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Guzman, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Norman Thomas were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Norman Thomas has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Rustin, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Norman Thomas will head out on the road to face off against Van Buren at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rustin, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Martin Luther King Jr Educational Campus at 5:00 p.m.
