After five games on the road, Furlow Charter School is heading back home. They will take on the Crisp Academy Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Furlow Charter School suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 86-32 loss at the hands of Lamar County.
Despite their defeat, Furlow Charter School saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaylen Deriso, who scored 16 points along with five steals and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deriso has scored all season. Kamari Deriso was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Crisp Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Covenant Academy 53-49.
Furlow Charter School bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.5 points per game. As for Crisp Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Furlow Charter School came up short against Crisp Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 61-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Crisp Academy's Tucker Ellenberg, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds.
