The Wingfield Falcons suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Raymond 71-41. Wingfield has not had much luck with Raymond recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Wingfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Peyton Sampson. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. Sampson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tyler Arrington was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Wingfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Raymond, their victory was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3.
Wingfield will take on Lanier at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Lanier presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wingfield in Mississippi (Lanier is ranked 127th, while Wingfield is ranked 266th). Raymond won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th.
