Peru is 0-10 against the Cougars since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Peru Nighthawks will head out on the road to face off against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Peru is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Peru was the victim of a tough 74-48 loss at the hands of the Vikings. While losing is never fun, Peru can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 721st, while the Vikings are ranked 63rd).
Meanwhile, Northeastern Clinton came up short against the Bobcats on Friday and fell 58-50. Northeastern Clinton has not had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Peru has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Northeastern Clinton, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Peru came up short against the Cougars in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 56-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Northeastern Clinton's Jordan Brown, who scored 31 points.
