Even though the Goldwater Bulldogs scored an imposing 69 points on Wednesday, the Agua Fria Owls still came out on top. Agua Fria secured a 75-69 W over Goldwater. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Agua Fria also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Agua Fria found their leader in underclassman Xavier Daniels, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Daniels has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Daniels jr, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Goldwater still got an impressive performance from Demarion Trask, who scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Jon Yaskowitz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Agua Fria's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Goldwater, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Agua Fria won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Deer Valley will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Goldwater, they will head out on the road to take on Peoria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
