Sarasota had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Osceola Kowboys on Thursday, sneaking past 64-61. The Sailors are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 18 straight.
Sarasota's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Lackaff, who went 7-for-15 en route to 19 points and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Lackaff now owns an excellent 40.9% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of David Young, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Osceola lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Luke Mccrimon, who went 7-for-17 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. Sarasota's win bumped their record up to 28-2. As for Osceola, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-4.
Sarasota will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Windermere at 3:00 p.m. on March 7th. Windermere knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 29 games -- so hopefully Sarasota likes a good challenge.
