The Liberty Lancers''s game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Thornton 49-0 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Liberty's ten-point performance the matchup before.
Christopher Hunter was on fire: he rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Hunter was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Rupejko, who rushed for 15 yards and a touchdown.
Liberty's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Thornton, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9.
Liberty will challenge Widefield at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Thornton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. Aurora Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
