Hanover-Horton and Manchester are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Comets will be playing at home against the Flying Dutchmen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hanover-Horton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Hanover-Horton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Vandercook Lake with a sharp 17-2 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Jayhawks: they've now won six in a row.
Hanover-Horton got a massive performance out of Luke Soper, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Jack Wooster was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs.
Hanover-Horton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Grass Lake hit Manchester with a six-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Flying Dutchmen came up short against the Warriors, falling 9-3.
Trent Line was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Hanover-Horton pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Manchester, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hanover-Horton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
