Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Blacksher's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Blacksher never let Clarke County get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Blacksher, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Emeri Ikner was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Bradleigh Stinson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Blacksher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .783. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Blacksher is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Clarke County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Blacksher has already played their next match, a 14-3 loss against Jay on the 18th. As for Clarke County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-10 victory against Fruitdale on the 21st.
