The Bertie Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Tarboro Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Bertie suffered a rough 54-30 loss at the hands of the Red Barons. Bertie has struggled against the Red Barons recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Bertie's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexia Dickerson, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks, and Rakiyah Peele who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 43.3% of Bertie's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Tarboro had to suffer through a rough 62-13 loss at the hands of the Red Barons. While losing is never fun, Tarboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while the Red Barons are ranked 123rd).
Bertie's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Tarboro, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.
Bertie strolled past the Vikings in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 48-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bertie since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
