Basketball Recap: Central Valley Academy Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

Central Valley Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Whitesboro Warriors as they made off with a 66-41 win. Given the Thunder's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Warriors are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central Valley Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Calvin Jacquays led the charge by going 8 for 16 on his way to 19 points and three steals. Jacquays' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luis Reitz, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Central Valley Academy pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Whitesboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Central Valley Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Herkimer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Whitesboro, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitesboro is facing Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at the right time seeing as Vernon-Verona-Sherrill is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
