The North Rangers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of John Hay by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss North has suffered yet this season.
North's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samantha Cantrell, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cantrell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cami Welty, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Tylia Parker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for John Hay, scoring 16 points along with six steals. Parker is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Avery Carr was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
North's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for John Hay, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North will take on Streetsboro at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The timing is sure in Streetsboro's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while North has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. John Hay won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bard Early College at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
