The Carlin Railroaders suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Owyhee, falling 56-23. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Carlin has suffered against Owyhee since January 9, 2020.
Carlin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayona Christensen, who scored eight points.
Carlin dropped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.1 points per game. As for Owyhee, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eureka at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Eureka's defense has only allowed 20.9 points per game this season, so Carlin's offense will have their work cut out for them.
