Baseball Game Preview: Viewmont Vikings vs. Box Elder Bees

For the second straight game, Viewmont will face off against Box Elder. The Vikings will welcome the Bees at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewmont will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Viewmont made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Box Elder, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings never let the Bees get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Monday. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Viewmont got a great performance from Jack Owen as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Owen also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Vikings are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, James Peterson was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Viewmont is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Elias Culley, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Viewmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Box Elder only posted an OBP of .182.

This is the second loss in a row for Box Elder and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Viewmont, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.
