Valparaiso has gone 9-1 against Michigan City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vikings will face off against the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Valparaiso's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
Valparaiso's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against South Bend Adams as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Vikings have won six games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Valparaiso got a great performance from Zach Troxel as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Troxel has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Matthew Civanich was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nate Simpson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Michigan City entered their tilt with La Lumiere on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Lakers.
The team relied heavily on Zaire McKinney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Michigan City: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Hazel, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Valparaiso is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Michigan City, their record is now 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Valparaiso has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Michigan City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Valparaiso's way against Michigan City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Valparaiso made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
