Basketball Recap: Maret Takes Down Friendship Collegiate Academy in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Maret rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 64-32 win over the Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights. The Frogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Maret's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Austin, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Austin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 14 games she's played. London Liley was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

Maret smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Z'Niyah Moore, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. What's more, Moore also posted an 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Miyazia Harris, who earned ten points and five boards.

Maret pushed their record up to 20-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points over those games. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.

Coming up, Maret will take on Sidwell Friends at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sidwell Friends will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Maret surely won't give up without a fight. Friendship Collegiate Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
