Community School of Davidson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mountain Island Charter 61-12 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-7.
Tyler Baughan was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Baughan is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Stewart, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Charter really took it to Corvian Community for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-21 victory at home. Given Lincoln Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Corvian Community is ranked 507th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln Charter's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kallie Lusk, who scored 16 points, and Martha Guinle, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals. Guinle hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Samantha Ayers was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Community School of Davidson's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.33 points. As for Lincoln Charter, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Community School of Davidson have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 43.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Charter struggles in that department as they've only drained 31.7% of theirs this season. Given Community School of Davidson's sizeable advantage in that area, Lincoln Charter will need to find a way to close that gap.
