Southwest Guilford has gone 8-2 against Southeast Guilford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cowboys will welcome the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Southwest Guilford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.5 runs per game this season.
Southwest Guilford managed to slip by Northern Guilford the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cowboys lost 8-2 to the Nighthawks on Friday. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aniya Harris made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Stefanik, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Southeast Guilford made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ragsdale on Friday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kayla Shoffner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jessica Wilson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Graciana Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Southeast Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ragsdale only posted an OBP of .308.
Southeast Guilford's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Southwest Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southwest Guilford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southeast Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
