The Elgin Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Cardington-Lincoln Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardington-Lincoln took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Elgin, who comes in off a win.
Elgin had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt Upper Scioto Valley last Thursday. Elgin put the hurt on Upper Scioto Valley with a sharp 53-29 win. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

It was another big night for Maycee Muselin, who almost dropped a double-double with 32 points and nine steals. The game was her tenth in a row with at least 20 points. Kadence Gear was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds.
Elgin was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Scioto Valley only posted six assists.
Meanwhile, Cardington-Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Clear Fork, falling 63-37. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Colts are ranked 89th).
Elgin will have to keep a close watch on Madison Caulkins and Kinstin Henthorn, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cardington-Lincoln's prior game. Caulkins posted six points along with five boards and four blocks, while Henthorn put up 12 points and three steals. What's more, Caulkins also posted three steals, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Longsdorf, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.
Elgin's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Cardington-Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Elgin has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Cardington-Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Elgin was taken down by Cardington-Lincoln 81-34 in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Thankfully for Elgin, Casey Bertke (who went 10-for-17 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
