Wheeler won against Merrillville on Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Bearcats blew past the Whiting Oilers 10-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Oilers: they've now won five in a row.

Caleb McLaughlin was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Jackson Kosiara was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Wheeler kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wheeler's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Whiting, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Wheeler will challenge North Newton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.1 runs per game on average), something the Bearcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Whiting, they will square off against Hammond Bishop Noll at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
