The Cherokee Trail Cougars will take on the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cherokee Trail's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Regis Jesuit's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Cherokee Trail gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Douglas County.

Connor Thrush made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Michlig, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jacob Ryan, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Cherokee Trail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Regis Jesuit had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Fort Collins with a sharp 10-0 win.
Like Cherokee Trail, Regis Jesuit also got a great game from a two-way player: Luke Reasbeck. Throwing, Reasbeck pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Hudson Alpert struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). At bat, Reasbeck scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Alpert went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Christian Lopez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Rathbun, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Cherokee Trail is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. Regis Jesuit's record is now 1-0.
Cherokee Trail couldn't quite get it done against Regis Jesuit in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can Cherokee Trail avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
