Softball Recap: Robinson Picks Up 17th Consecutive Victory

Robinson came tearing into Friday's game with 16 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the La Vega Pirates with a sharp 22-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 32-0 last Tuesday.

Kaygen Marshall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Marshall was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Rosillo, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Williams, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Robinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 17 consecutive contests.

Robinson's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for La Vega, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Robinson will face off against rival Lorena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, La Vega is set to challenge their familiar foe Gatesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
