The Horizon Huskies will face off against the Millennium Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Horizon's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canyon View on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Huskies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Horizon got a good showing from Connor McDonald, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave McDonald a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
At the plate, Horizon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colten Figueroa, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Millennium, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Shadow Ridge on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won four in a row.
Millennium also got a great performance from David Sheppard as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave Sheppard a new career-high in strikeouts.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matthew Nevarez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Brady Perrin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Horizon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Millennium, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Horizon was able to grind out a solid win over Millennium in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 5-2. Will Horizon repeat their success, or does Millennium have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
