This season hasn't been kind to the Lakeland Lakers, who are still winless after their eighth match. They were beaten by East Noble 62-29 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Lakeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while East Noble is ranked 82nd).
Lakeland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Oman, who scored 16 points, and Dulce Canedo who scored 6 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
East Noble got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addison Deming out in front who scored 12 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Rian David, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Lakeland's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for East Noble, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for East Noble, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome New Haven at 7:30 p.m. on December 2nd. New Haven is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
