4A Mountain recap September 10, 2013
Golden fell to Dakota Ridge 51-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jake McCormick threw for 84 yards and 43 touchdowns in the defeat.
Montbello made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,117 from 4,567. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 47-27 victory over Greeley West last week.
Alec McLAIN was the most successful running back in 4A Mountain this week. He ran for 153 yards on 13 carries as Broomfield beat the Spartans. Teammate Noah TRIPP added to the ground attack by rushing for 84 yards.
McCormick put up the best numbers through the air as Golden lost to the Eagles.
McLAIN provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles lost to Legacy. McLAIN's favorite target this week was Dante PANICUCCI, who caught 6 passes for 125 yards.
Jones was the best wideout in the league this week as Montbello topped Greeley West. Jones racked up 8 receptions for 150 yards. Gerardo Barraza helped Montbello's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 53 yards.
He was 7-23 with 1 interceptions.
6-foot-1 quarterback Alpoitier (A.J.) Thompson of John Trahan's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 495. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is PANICUCCI. The Broomfield star has 11 catches for 237 yards.
The Warriors led the league in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on Jason Renouf's team. Thompson threw for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 67 yards in the win.
