The Sharyland Rattlers were the 48-47 winner over the Pioneer Diamondbacks when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Sharyland fell just short of Pioneer by a score of 48-45. Sharyland just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Pioneer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Muhamed Shaath led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Valdez, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Sharyland has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Pioneer, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Sharyland is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Pioneer will take on Valley View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley View is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
