The Fox Chapel Foxes will take on the New Castle Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Fox Chapel came up short against Pine-Richland and fell 8-4. The Foxes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fox Chapel got a good showing from Drew Moyer, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Elias George and Joey Geller stepped up to the plate in a big way. George got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Geller went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that George has snagged this season.
New Castle's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Mars on Tuesday. The Hurricanes came out on top against the Fightin' Planets by a score of 4-1. While the Hurricanes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Paul Malley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Malley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Rodgers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Another was Giovanni Miller, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Fox Chapel's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for New Castle, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-1.
Fox Chapel got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against New Castle by a conclusive 13-4 score. Do the Foxes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hurricanes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
