The Marion County Red Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Mars Hill Bible Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marion County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-46, which was the final score in Marion County's tilt against the Vikings on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Marion County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Vikings are ranked tenth).
Meanwhile, Mars Hill Bible had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They managed a 58-54 win over Decatur Heritage Christian Academy.
Marion County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Mars Hill Bible, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
Marion County was taken down by the Panthers 73-44 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Marion County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
