If the McNeil Mavericks were feeling good off their 50-27 takedown of the East View Patriots on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. McNeil fell 46-36 to Decatur on Thursday. While losing is never fun, McNeil can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 671st, while Decatur is ranked 100th).
Decatur found their leader in underclassman Bralyn Peck, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds. The contest was Peck's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laken Coffman, who scored 7 points.
McNeil's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Decatur, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Salado the next time they take the court. Decatur will head out to face Salado at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while McNeil will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
