They strolled past the Spartans with points to spare, taking the game 34-20. The Kewpies' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Smith-Cotton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 35-28 to Jefferson City.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Beau Gray, who threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Kyren Staten was in the mix too, providing Smith-Cotton with two touchdowns.
Smith-Cotton's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Nikah Cole and Emanuel Neal. Samuel Wright was another major factor on D, making 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
