There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Berkeley Prep and Mitchell.
Welcome
The Boca Ciega offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It breezed past Northeast with a final score of 52 - 28. Boca Ciega found its leader in an underclassman: Chris Phillips ran for 138 yards and also punched in four touchdowns, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players. The win also thrust Boca Ciega into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
Pinellas Park's 62 - 20 win over Seminole last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Lawrance Toafili. Toafili earned four touchdowns and 198 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Toafili among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Bloomingdale (4th in the power rankings) and Tampa Bay Tech (10th). Bloomingdale finished its game with a 33 - 24 win. Two standouts for it were junior Lance Alderson and senior Levi Williams; the former tossed for two touchdowns and rushed for one more while the latter rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown.
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between Berkeley Prep and Mitchell last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 85 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Berkeley Prep battled it out with Mitchell for a well-earned 43 - 42 overtime win. Nevertheless, Berkeley Prep did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped two spots in the rankings.
