Basketball Recap: Luke Jockel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Midview over Avon Lake

Midview was the 52-47 winner over Avon Lake when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Midview Middies took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Avon Lake Shoremen on Tuesday. The Middies just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Midview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Jockel, who posted 14 points and three steals. Jockel is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brennen Newton, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

Midview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Avon Lake, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-5.

Midview will welcome Berea-Midpark at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Avon Lake, they will venture away from home to take on Steele at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
