SANDY, Utah - In spite of trailing
Alta (Sandy, Utah) 17 points,
Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) surged back to grab a 33-27 win over
Alta (Sandy, Utah) Saturday.
After nabbing the lead on a touchdown, the Hawks went into halftime with a 27-10 lead. The Miners scored the winning points with a
Kyle Gearig touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 10 points in the third, Bingham still trailed by seven points going into the fourth quarter. But 13 points in the fourth helped BHS pull out the victory.
The South Jordan school didn't regain the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Gearig ran for a touchdown.
The victory avenged Bingham's close 17-16 loss to Alta last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Alta, which notched a 50-18 victory over West Jordan in its previous outing.
