Ottawa-Glandorf is 0-3 against Elida since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Titans will challenge the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ottawa-Glandorf took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Kalida, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans skirted past the Wildcats 9-7.
The team relied heavily on Haley Meyer, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Libby Nienberg also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ottawa-Glandorf kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.2.
Meanwhile, Elida entered their tilt with Shawnee on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lilly Sifrit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Ava Jackson was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Carly Chiles was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
The win got Ottawa-Glandorf back to even at 5-5. As for Elida, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Ottawa-Glandorf might still be hurting after the 21-1 defeat they got from Elida when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
