Wisner-Pilger has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Wisner-Pilger Gators and the Pender Pendragons will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Wisner-Pilger was able to grind out a solid win over Clarkson/Leigh, taking the game 59-46. The win was just what Wisner-Pilger needed coming off of a 60-31 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Pender came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Tri County Northeast by a score of 41-31.
Pender's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Beckman, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Alex Roth, who scored 13 points.
Wisner-Pilger's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-14. As for Pender, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Wisner-Pilger was dealt a bruising 80-33 defeat at the hands of Pender in their previous matchup last Thursday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pender's Gannon Walsh, who went 9 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 0 assists. Now that Wisner-Pilger knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
