Manhattan/Manhattan Christian extended the longest winning streak in Southern 5B this week by beating Ronan, 49-16. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Manhattan/Manhattan Christian took down the Chiefs 49-16 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Jefferson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alex Brunett threw for 121 and one touchdown and Sam Fletcher had 64 yards receiving. On the ground David Weinmeister chipped in 90 yards. Karson Novak helped Jefferson's passing attack out by catching one ball for 28 yards.
Jefferson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brunett has thrown for 413 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Tony Butler has eight catches for 189 yards. Weinmeister leads the league in rushing with 182 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Panthers take on Whitehall/Harrison. Jefferson is in fourth place, while the Trojans are in second place.
The Tigers led Southern 5B in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Ronan.
