St. Joseph and Buena are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The St. Joseph Wildcats' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Buena Chiefs at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Tuesday.
St. Joseph suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 67-36 defeat at the hands of Absegami. While losing is never fun, St. Joseph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Absegami is ranked 71st).
Meanwhile, Buena's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 46-20 walloping at the hands of Clayton. Buena was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-5.
St. Joseph's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. As for Buena, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
St. Joseph was able to grind out a solid win over Buena in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 41-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Joseph since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
