Lucy Beckham got a great performance from Levi Srock as he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Srock has become a key player for the Bengals: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hank Aeppli, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Davis Kruse also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Lucy Beckham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Wando came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Gators 9-1.
Evan Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brady Gold was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Downing, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Lucy Beckham is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Wando, their record is now 15-8.
Lucy Beckham might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Wando in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Bengals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
