The Greene County Wildcats waltzed into their game Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Richton by a score of 55-47. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Greene County also won the last time the pair played last Monday.
Greene County was led to victory by Tylan Blackston and Braedon Spivery. Blackston scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Spivery scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Spivery has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Yabarrai Bolton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Richton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brandon Brown, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Taylor, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Richton struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Greene County's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-6. As for Richton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.
Greene County will be home for the holidays to greet Moss Point at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Moss Point is ranked 118th, while Greene County is ranked 132nd). As for Richton, they will head out on the road to face off against Lamar Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
