Softball Recap: Malvern's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Malvern won the last time they faced Fountain Lake and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Leopards' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cobras a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kendall Watson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hattie Davis was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emily Minge was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Malvern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fountain Lake only posted an OBP of .133.

The win made it two in a row for Malvern and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Fountain Lake, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Malvern will take on Mena at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bearcats will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Leopards surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fountain Lake, they will face off against Centerpoint at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cobras will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
