Central (Fresno, Calif.) snapped
Liberty (Bakersfield, Calif.)'s 4-game winning streak, with a 35-14 victory on Saturday.
The two teams were tied at seven heading into halftime. The Grizzlies took the lead for good on a touchdown run by
Rasean Jones with 9:00 to go in the third quarter.
With the win Central extended its winning streak to five games. CHS defeated the Drillers 42-28 last week.
Jones played well for the Fresno school in the victory. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns.
The Patriots'
Josh Medina played well. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.
Led by
Hatari Byrd, the Grizzlies had given up an average of 16.0 points prior to the contest. Liberty's 14 points were well below its season average of 30.1 per game.
The loss comes after Liberty defeated Clovis 25-23 last week.
Central (11-2) faces off against Clovis West in a Tri-River game its next time out. The Golden Eagles will bring a record of 2-9 into the meeting.
