Two dominant guards in Gavin Dodge and Antonio Kellogg Jr are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Acalanes Dons will be playing at home against the Ygnacio Valley Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Acalanes fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Miramonte on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Matadors. While losing is never fun, Acalanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Miramonte is ranked 210th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Ygnacio Valley gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northgate 84-54 at home. The victory was nothing new for Ygnacio Valley as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Kellogg Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and six steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for eight straight games. Evan McKnight was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Acalanes has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Acalanes skirted past Ygnacio Valley 64-62 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Does Acalanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ygnacio Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
