Even though the North Central Knights have not done well against the Burke Cougars recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. North Central narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Burke 53-50. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but North Central was the better team in the second half.
Jackson Hallock continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for he. The team also got some help courtesy of Keian Fischer, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
North Central now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Burke, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Central will face off against St. Mary's at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Burke, they will head out on the road to face off against Platte/Geddes at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
