Baseball Recap: Gloucester Catholic Takes Down Holy Cross in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Gloucester Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Holy Cross Lancers with a sharp 11-0 win on Friday. Considering the Rams have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Smallets looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jack Mustaro was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Guy Lynam was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

Gloucester Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Gloucester Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.

Gloucester Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-3 win against Ranney on the 4th. Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
