The Ware Shoals Hornets struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Dixie Hornets had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ware Shoals took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixie. While losing is never fun, Ware Shoals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Dixie is ranked 115th).
When it comes to explaining why Ware Shoals lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayce Medlin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Medlin is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for five games straight. Another player making a difference was Jace Stewart, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Dixie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kadin Stoll, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stoll has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Ware Shoals has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Dixie, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ware Shoals will take on South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Dixie, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Calhoun Falls Charter at 7:30 p.m.
