The Renaissance Academy Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Jenkintown by a score of 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Renaissance Academy has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Renaissance Academy still got an impressive performance from DJ Savior, who scored nine points.
Jenkintown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tommy Walsh, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. Walsh is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmond Trail, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Renaissance Academy's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Jenkintown, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Renaissance Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Collegium Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Collegium Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Renaissance Academy likes a good challenge. Jenkintown won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chester Charter Scholars Academy at 12:30 p.m. on January 6th.
