Football Game Preview: Karnes City Badgers vs. Young Men's Leadership Academy

The Karnes City Badgers will head out on the road to take on Young Men's Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Karnes City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 32.2 points per game this season.

Karnes City took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 win over Natalia. The Badgers pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

Karnes City relied on the efforts of Savion Nixon-Thompson, who rushed for 147 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries, and Israel Soto, who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Nixon-Thompson didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended two passes. Karnes City also got help from Micah Fuentes, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Another reason for the win was Karnes City's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Pedro Serna with two.

Meanwhile, Young Men's Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 43-7 loss at the hands of Dilley.

Young Men's Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Karnes City, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Karnes City against Young Men's Leadership Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-15 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Young Men's Leadership Academy's Raishaun Conaway, who rushed for 169 yards and one score while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Badgers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
