Basketball Recap: Heritage Christian Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Heritage Christian extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Alex Ophoff. The Heritage Christian Defenders narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Kankakee Trinity Academy 62-60 thanks in part to Ophoff, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in November of 2024.

Several Kankakee Trinity Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Akira Hori, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points along with five boards and four steals. Hori is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cory Hathaway, who went 6 for 9 en route to 18 points.

Heritage Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Kankakee Trinity Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Heritage Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Victory Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Victory Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Kankakee Trinity Academy, they will square off against HomeSchool Resource Center at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
