The Parker Thundering Herd had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They came out on top against Huffman by a score of 50-42. This was payback for Parker, who suffered a 70-47 loss the last time these two teams met.
Parker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Otiscia Towns led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alteona Plump, who scored 15 points.
Parker has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Huffman, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.
Parker will head out on the road to face off against Pinson Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pinson Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Parker is ranked 38th). Huffman and Gardendale will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gardendale knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Huffman likes a good challenge.
